Some of you may know ICONographix by their former name of Eventi Productions. Their style is edgy and upfront... I love it! Check out what Ambrosia has to say below!
Company Name:
[ICON]ographix
Person Responding and Title:
Ambrosia Gilchrist Varaschin, Artistic Director & Principal Iconographer
1. What services does your company provide?
[ICON]ographix has revolutionized the photographic industry, providing imagery for the 21st century. Specializing in weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, and boudoir photography, we offer unique, unconventional, and artistic images that are iconic of your personal individual style.
2. What is your company philosophy?
With the increasing ability of technology, just about anyone can be a photographer nowadays; it takes a true artist to become an Iconographer. An Iconographer doesn’t take pictures, she predicts, documents, and captures something more than just a snapshot, more than just a moment, it is the capture of a fragment of time that embraces the energy and emotion of its focus. Iconography is the convergence of photographic, artistic, journalistic, and literary talent and expertise to create an extraordinary masterpiece the artwork of life.
3. How long has your company been operating?
We are brand new to Ottawa, but have been operating in Europe and in Saskatchewan since 2001.
4. What are some of your most memorable events that you have worked on and why?
I have done a number of ethnic weddings on the prairies, and developed a very close working relationship with the Iraqi community, documenting at least three weddings a year for them, and they have become more like friends than clients. Their weddings are very vivacious and action packed, with plenty of dancing and eating—I never get home before 2 am
5. What questions do you believe all prospective clients should be asking?
I think clients are afraid to ask too many questions, I’ve even had to press brides to ask me as many questions as they like after promising not to bug me anymore! I encourage clients to ask as many questions as they can, even if they don’t directly pertain to photography. It is important to get a feel for each other, after all you are going to be spending your entire day with your photographer, you should get along with them. Some key questions:
WHO: Will you personally be shooting, or will another photographer
WHAT: What do you provide, and what is our obligation (props, etc). What kind of products do you have for purchase? Is there a limit to the number of exposures?
WHERE: Is there a limit to our locations?
WHEN: How long until we get to see our images? How long for albums, prints, etc?
HOW: Are you digital or film? How large can our images print to, and are your prints inkjet or photographic? How do you make your albums—in house or through a professional manufacturer?
WHY: Why should I hire you over another type of photographer, or over my friend who takes great pictures with his digital camera?
6. Is there anything you would like prospective clients to know about your company?
We have an extensive trophy case with national and international awards and nominations, and we are very active in our community. We are the creators of the first annual Boudoir Blitz, which will be taking place in January 2010 an will raise $20,000 for Breast Cancer Action Ottawa, and we are currently developing a fundraiser for the Ottawa Humane Society. We also run a discount program for veterans and active military personnel.

So about a week ago I sent out countless emails to vendors that span the whole of the wedding industry in Ottawa asking them to fill out a questionnaire and provide some photo's that I could post on my blog to help out the Ottawa bride.
I have started receiving some of the questionnaires back from vendors so I will start to post them today and will continue to do so as they trickle in. If you have any specific questions that you would like me to ask these vendors let me know!
Here are the questions that I sent to the vendors and my own answers to those questions for In Any Events
Vendor Showcase Questions:
Company Name:In Any Events
Person Responding and Title: Liane Reeves- Principal Planner
1. What services does your company provide? We are a full service event planning company. We can help with events of 300+ people to an intimate dinner party of 8 helping you plan every detail of the day or simply coordinating during the event so that you can be a guest at your own party.
2. What is your company philosophy?
Our philosophy is your celebration should not just be about a date or an event but also about you and the life you lead including your sense of style, friends, family and the values you hold dear.
We are quite new to the Ottawa area but I have been planning events in the UK for the last four years.
4. What are some of your most memorable events that you have worked on and why?
Every event that we help plan is memorable for one moment or another. I have always loved watching a bride and groom look at each other just after walking back down the aisle because you can see the thought "Wow we're married" in their eyes. I have always loved watching the emotions cross someones face as they receive a heartfelt toast at a dinner party or an anniversary party. I have always loved watching a mommy-to-be looking at the onesies and bibs with a sense of anticipation at a baby shower. These moments never get old.
5. What questions do you believe all prospective clients should be asking?
When looking for an event planner I believe you need to be asking questions about their sense of style, how they interact with you on the day of your event, and how they interact with your vendors to make sure that they will truly represent you on your day. You should also be looking for a genuine sense of excitement from them, there is nothing worse than an event planner who is no longer excited by the events in their clients life.
6. Is there anything you would like prospective clients to know about your company?
I would like them to know that although we are a young company we have a solid background in event planning and a real thirst for the "realness" of your celebrations. We truly want your day to be your day not just what people think it should be and we will work tirelessly to make sure that is realized.
