This Sunday across most of North America there will be gatherings celebrating the Superbowl. I am a huge football fan and am very excited to be here this year for the game (the game starts at 1am in the UK it's a little bit tough to watch) and can't wait to see the Cardinals beat the Steelers (I heart Kurt Warner).
I have been to some great and some not so great Superbowl parties and I thought I would blog about what would be my best Superbowl party. Keep in mind that some of my favourite Superbowl parties consisted of chips, dip, beer and avid football fans... the key ingredient is always the fans!
Three Pieces of Advice for a Successful Superbowl Party
1. Cheering Sections:
If you know ahead of time that most of your guests will be split down the middle on which team to cheer on, tape a line down the middle of your sitting room and create cheering sections! Decorate each side with the team colours and watch the trash talking begin!
2. No Fuss Food:
The worst mistake you can make at a superbowl party is to get fancy with the food, you can go healthy but make it no fuss food. My favourite way to feed people during the game is finger foods. My favourite menu includes mini Burgers, mini fish and chips, fantastic nachos and homemade guacamole!
3. Don't forget the women!
I am a woman that loves football, and when I go to a Superbowl party I am quite happy to drink beer and watch the game but for all of those football widows out there don't forget to make the party fun for them too! I saw this drink idea last year on the hostess blog and used it and I have to say it got the women into the party as well!
Ladies I present you with... Beer Margaritas!
Ingredients:
- 4x Bottle of cold light-flavoured beer
- 1x Can of frozen limeade concentrate
- 1x cup of Tequila
- Lime wedges
- Kosher salt (for rimming the glasses)
Directions:
In a large pitcher, combine the beer, tequila and limeade. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each of glass and dip it in the salt. Pour the margaritas into the glasses and garnish with a lime wedge.
No matter who wins this Sunday I know it is going to be a great night!
